OUR
STORY

SO, HOW DID WE GET HERE?

WHAT STARTED IT ALL

In our years working in the pet industry, pet rescue and pet ownership, we have become acquainted with the veterinary industry. We have personally spent tens of thousands of dollars on veterinary care but knew there had to be a more affordable, efficient and consistent way to provide the most basic wellness care to patients and their owners.  In December of 2020, it all started with a text message, “We should start a low-cost vaccination clinic”.

It seemed like a daunting task that could potentially create a lot of uproar. Offering excellent, efficient, compassionate care by licensed veterinarians in our own free-standing space for a cheaper price than the market offers? Can that be done? Then why isn’t it? There were a lot of unknowns but with diligence and an incredible vision, piece by piece we began to pull it together.  Over the last 10 months, our vision became more clear and we realized we were onto something all owners, their dogs and cats should have access to.

In the end, we decided to offer more than vaccinations. We also offer preventatives and testing. Just these three things. The stuff EVERY pet owner should be doing. We make it affordable, fast, and easy because no pet should have to suffer because their owner simply can’t afford to give them what is required to stay well.

We make decisions based on a few simple questions….

1

How can we add value?

2

How can we lower prices?

3

How can we make it easy?

4

How can we make it fun?

KRISTEN DUHR

In 1999, my first year away at college, anxious and 2500 miles away from home, I got my first dog. Never had them growing up. Clueless about the financial investment required and broke, I quickly realized I was going to need to get a job to support my new love. I came home from college and began searching for someone to watch him while I worked. Realizing how much he had become a part of my life and how I wanted something different for him from a caretaking perspective, I began my own pet sitting business caring for dogs and cats while clients worked and went on vacation. Several years in, I partnered with Matt and co-founded an all inclusive pet resort offering boarding, grooming, training and daycare.

While doing this satisfied my love for providing exceptional care for others pets, I was occasionally approached by the owner who could no longer continue owning some of the dogs I had fallen so deeply for. I began helping them find new homes and quickly found myself a matchmaker for dogs in need. I would frequent shelters with low visibility, pick-up multiple dogs at a time and bring them home to evaluate them and begin the search for new owners. I founded Home 2 Home Canine Orphanage in 2014, a non-profit licensed rescue and collectively over the last 15 plus years I have assisted in finding homes for thousands of dogs from all over the country including thousands from rural Missouri. It became increasingly clear that the community needed another solution for reasonable, honest and efficient wellness based pet care when owners were forced to surrender their dogs and cats due to an inability to pay for treatment for diseases and viruses that arose from a lack of vet care. Here came the greater vision to get to the root of this perpetual problem….. Cheap Pricks.

I spend my time teaching canine training classes, training dogs privately to keep them in their homes, helping people find their new companion, a wife to my husband, Zach, a mom to my three three toddler boys Hunter, Logan and Owen and my two Great Dane dogs, Dennis and Bombshell.
