Testing
Testing for your dog or cat.
All prevention and treatment starts with a test. Before a preventative can be given it is imperative to know that your pet doesn’t already suffer the affliction you wish to prevent. In many cases, putting a pet on a preventative if they are already positive can have disastrous effects on their health. Similarly to treat, we must know what is to be treated.

Testing for dogs & Cats
Heartworm Testing
Heartworm testing is simple, fast, and important. This is perhaps one of the best examples of needing to ensure the parasite is not present before going on a preventative. Putting a dog on a heartworm preventative while positive for heartworms could be a fatal mistake.
We also offer the 4DX Heartworm test, which screens for four diseases: Heartworm, Lyme, Anaplasma, and Ehrlichia.
Intestinal Parasites and Worms
There are as many intestinal parasites as there are days of the week…probably more. Unfortunately the treatment protocol can vary greatly between them depending on the specific parasite and the magnitude of the issue.
Viral Tests
With cats in particular, it is imperative to do testing for FIV/FeLV to get on a treatment plan as soon as possible. These tests are performed annually at vaccination time.
Blood Screening
Wellness and senior blood tests are conducted to assess the health of your pet. This bloodwork can indicate underlying or existing diseases that may not be obvious to the pet owner. Pets are notoriously good at hiding pain and other symptoms.
For senior pets, blood screens are especially important since they are at a higher risk for disease. Blood panels help with early detection to allow your pet to continue enjoying their best years by your side.
